Kalthar the Giant Man was chief of the Urgana tribe and protector of the jungle. He was adopted by the tribe as a small child after his father died to save the Urganas from Arab slave traders. The Urganas gave him the name Kalthar and he soon forgot his own family and original name. He learned to speak to animals and when he reached manhood, Kalthar was given a gift from the witch doctor, Talo. Kalthar is given red grains of growth which allow him to grow up to fifteen feet tall. The green grains return him to normal. Besides growth and animal communication, Kalthar also had some physical toughness since he survived both bullets and explosions more or less unscathed.
