Harley Hudson, an entomologist and chemist, discovers that insects can lift masses greater than their own weight not because of the square–cube law but because of their ability to coordinate their muscles. He teaches himself to coordinate his muscles as insects do and finds himself able to perform amazing feats. He then dons a costume and calls himself the Firefly. Later, his meditations confer on him the ability to radiate light as if a real firefly.

Despite his unearthly physical statistics the claim is maintained that FIrefly does NOT have super powers. If not, he is at the absolute human limit that no non-powered human can exceed for Strength and Endurance. His Aura "power" would then be bio-luminescence such as that reported to be generated by certain religious mystics.
In his last recorded adventure during World War 2, Firefly was attacked by the time traveler known as Sheba, the Queen of Ethiopia. She took Firefly with her back to her home time period of 1058 BC. After remaining missing for decades, Firefly has recently returned to the present using Sheba's time travel power hourglass, ready to fight crime in contemporary times!
