Black Fury is the hereditary leader of a group of wild horses. A Black Fury has been born and raised as a foal by the same tribe of horses for many generations and has always risen to leadership due to its extremely powerful abilities compared to even the greatest normal horse.
Black Fury and its tribe wander the American south-west, occasionally straying further afield, but always careful not to interact with humans except on the rarest of occasions.

Black Fury has a handful of humans it trusts, across the American south-west, north-western Mexico and on local native American reservations. Other than them and the very occasional interaction with superheroes and supervillains, Black Fury leads its horse tribe as best it can in its harsh home environment.

Hunted by several different horse breeders and animal collectors and at least two big game hunters desperate to kill an intelligent horse as some sort of ultimate trophy.
